Good evening, and welcome.
I thank the Olds Chamber for hosting this event, congratulate all candidates for standing for election and thank you for taking the time to be part of the process.
I’m Darren Wilson, thank you for allowing me the opportunity to have served on Council the past 4 years….and I’m seeking your support for re -election.
I have lived and raised my family in Olds and I want to continue to ensure our community is built on a solid foundation – a municipal government that is financially stable to capitalize on growth and opportunity ahead, achieving the right balance between satisfactory service levels and Town capacity to deliver those services, maintaining our core essential infrastructure and supporting Economic Development, which includes housing; supporting our existing business community and attracting mid-large industrial/manufacturing investment.
I bring a fiscally responsible steady approach to every decision – doing my homework, preparation and research. I believe strong decisions come from strong questions: I ask not to challenge, but for clarify, for accountability and for measurable results.

From the on-set of my term as Councillor, I advocated for clear key performance indicators – and with administration’s support we now have metrics across the organization to measure performance, results, progress and adjust course if necessary to ensure continuous improvement
Beyond the council table, you’ve seen me visible and engaged throughout the community – supporting youth and college sports, celebrating leadership programs and learning activities such as the poverty simulation game, supporting our volunteers and service clubs and engaging with residents while gasping for breath on the treadmill or bench pressing 10 pounds at the CLC.
That connection keeps me grounded in what matters most to residents.
This election is about being responsible, forward thinking and focused on the core basics to keep Olds strong.
Thank you.
